There are lots of events to enjoy in both St Mary's and our sister church of St Stephen's, Lansdown. What, when and where can be found in both the Calendar and in The Beneficial (our regular summary of news and events at both churches).
We are now in Lent, a period of prayer and reflection leading up to Easter. Rev'd Philip Hawthorn writes:
There's much to reflect on in terms of the world, and our nation as we consider Jesus' temptation to power. And our own complicity - willing or not - in what is an increasingly unstable world. As Christians we do not judge, but rather reflect on our own lives within the knowledge and assurance of God's unconditional love for us. It's useful, as we walk this Lenten journey, to keep an eye of where we're headed, with a vision of the extent to which God shows us that love in Christ's passion - and to find hope in the resurrection.
During Lent, on Saturday 14th March, there will be a most interesting recital of medieval chants. Further details and how to book your place are shown here.

On Wednesday 25th at 6pm we shall be celebrating our patronal festival, The Annunciation, with choral evensong. This is the most beautiful service; it's a wonderful, gentle evening worship which allows our ancient church to sound the echoes of the same words being prayed there since 1549. This will be a great opportunity to experience one of the treaures of the Anglican liturgy. Much of the service will be sung, and the congregation will be the choir! The music is simple, and simple to follow with the chants printed in the service book. Do come along, and bring your friends.

Looking further ahead, the Summer BBQ will be on Saturday 13th June. Further information will follow in due course, but please make a note in your diary now!
