Here are some of the people you may meet if you visit St Mary’s

Revd Philip Hawthorn, Rector

Philip has been at St Mary’s for 10 years. This is his first job as a rector. Before that he was a writer, director and presenter in various media, mostly for BBC Radio and Television. He is, amongst other things, husband to Lizzie, father to Ellie, Billy, Peter, Annie and Ted, cyclist, breadmaker, grower, scribbler and sketcher, henkeeper and supporter of the best football club in the world. (He was born in Watford.)

Revd Debbie Pow, Associate Priest

A rare species – curate, farmer’s wife, mother … noted for being vertically challenged but high on agricultural anecdotes. Happiest nurturing things: people, plants, animals – and creating: with food, fabric or a hammer and nails. Smitten with Jesus – and husband Will (a wonderfully long-suffering and patient species) she’s proud mum to their three grown up daughters, Jess, Ceci, and Maddie.

Revd Andrew Avramenko, Curate

Andrew is a tech-wizard and fan of using technology to bring people together and make life better.  Before being a curate he worked in environmental, educational and community engagement (he got people involved in things!) and is a life long fan of Formula 1 (he promises not to cut short his sermons on a race weekend!).  He is married to Elaine, father to Josh and Abigail, and servant to Ron (the family’s cat).

Elizabeth Thorne, Church Warden

Neil Latham, Church Warden

Judith Pepler, Treasurer

The church is also served by more people who sit on the Parochial Church Council (known by its abbreviation of PCC).  You can find out about the PCC here.
