This is the lead up to Holy Week, beginning next weekend with Palm Sunday.
As usual we have services and events to help us walk with Jesus from the adulation of the crowds to the forsakenness of the cross … and beyond, of course. And, as usual, you have the chance to make this Easter journey richer and deeper by being a part of it. When you come to worship and reflect, praise and pray in these services you don’t just do it for yourself, but to be a part of our church, and enable us to be together as a family seeking after understanding, and opening ourselves to transformation. It shows that we take seriously our faith and community. There’s a programme of services below. May I encourage you to sign up early for the Agape supper so the caterers will be able to prepare the right amount of delicious food.
Tomorrow evening we would had Evensong with Reflection and Music on the theme of ‘Hesed’ – the Hebrew word spelled above. Jane would have reflected on this word that is a strong leitmotif throughout the Old Testament, the Hebrew Scriptures. It only has an inadequate translation in English, but ‘loving kindness’ and ‘grace’ come close. It is really a key to glimpsing what Jesus is expressing throughout Holy Week and Easter. There would also have been the most amazing piece of music by the Estonian composer, Arvo Pärt.
So, please, write the services in your diary, and be part of this journey together. Most of these are on the events page of this web-site and can be copied into your digital calendars.
